Roof
Sit 2007 (June 6-9) is designed to raise awareness of the problem of child
abuse and neglect and to raise money to support programs at The
Community Healing Centers (formerly the Guidance Clinic) that
treat children who have been abused as well as programs that
work to prevent child abuse. The children who receive these
services live right here in our community and need our help.

Thanks to the support and participation of WKFR 103.3 Cumulus
Broadcasting morning disc jockeys, Glen Dillon and Shelly live
on the roof of the Helzberg Diamonds/Hairmasters building on
South Westnedge. Their "sit" on the roof helps to raise money
and awareness of the need for prevention and treatment of child
abuse. Through live broadcasts each day and night during Roof
Sit, individuals and businesses make pledges, issue challenges
and relay incredible stories of love and heartbreak all in an
effort to raise money to fight child abuse. People come to the
event site and donate money to kids in need.
Purpose
of Event
The event is designed to raise money to support The Guidance
Clinic and end the vicious cycle of child abuse and neglect. The event
will raise money to support programs that serve children who are victims
of abuse and neglect, with a specific emphasis on at-risk infants and
sexually abused children. This event will directly impact the lives of
children and families within Southwest Michigan, now and in the future.
The
Event
Thanks to the support and participation of WKFR 103.3FM of

child abuse. Through live broadcasts running each day and night of Roof
Sit, individuals make pledges, challenges, and relay incredible stories of
love and heartbreak all in an effort to raise money for our children
in need.

Schools
Our local schools play a critical role in raising money for
children in need. In fact, the event is about kids raising money for kids;
and our local schools support the event by providing the opportunity for
youth to participate as a school project. There are countless ways schools
can participate including: coin collections, sponsoring a car wash,
collecting pop cans, pumping gas for tips at our participating Shell
stations, or hosting a fund raising event at their school. Big or small,
all donations help to raise money by kids for kids. Support packages
including posters and signage is available upon request.
Phone
Banks
Phone banks, located in the parking lot area of Helzberg
Diamonds/HairCuts Plus, are operated every day, from 8 a.m. until 8:30
p.m. Volunteers are needed to help staff the effort.
Tips
for Kids
This event brings back the days of pumping gas for tips -- a
perfect way for high schools to join the effort and build team unity
100% of the money raised stays in our community. All the
supplies are provided and students just need to show up at their
designated time. Students provide their own transportation and
representatives are asked to present the money to Nick and Noelle.
